Mr. Donald Duke obtained a Law Degree in 1982 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1983. In 1984, he obtained an LLM Degree with specialty in International Business from the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
He had a brief partnership stint as a Corporate Lawyer with Onyia & Duke from 1985-1988. Seating on the Boards of various companies, Donald has also served in the public sector as Member, National Economic Intelligence Committee, The Presidency (1997); Member, Federal Economic Council (1997); Chairman, Privatization Committee for the National Fertilizer Company (NAFCON) (1998); Member, Federal Capital Budget Monitoring Committee (1998) amongst others.
A high point of his public service was the successful completion of his two terms as Governor of Cross River State Nigeria in 2007. Donald’s record of achievements as Governor includes the provision of infrastructure to enhance tourism, roads and other social facilities.
Donald received the National Honours Award of Commander of the Oder of the Niger (CON) in December, 2008. He is a Fellow of International Studies, Georgetown University, Washington DC and member, American Bar Association.
A well sought after speaker, he has over the years been called upon to deliver insightful lectures at national events and at various institutions of higher learning. On the International scene, Mr. Duke was a guest speaker at the International Forum of Cities (FORUM AFRICA) held in Madrid, Spain in March, 2009.
