The Nigeria Finance & Investment Forum 2013
An international conference on the role of Financial Institutions in the economic diversification of Nigeria
18 June 2013, Transcorp Hilton Abuja, Nigeria
INTRODUCTION
Following the institution of Nigeria’s Transformation Agenda in 2011, GDP growth has averaged 7% with a projection of 7-8% growth up to 2015. This is significant in the light of the global economic crisis. The Financial Sector reform has improved the capitalization of Nigerian Banks and there is a gradual recovery of the Stock Market. In addition to an improved management of the country’s external reserves, inflation and exchange rates are under control. But while the Nigerian economy has continued to record high growth, crude oil remains the dominant source of government revenue and export earnings. This prevailing structure exposes the Nigerian economy to the vagaries of the oil market. One of the key objectives of government under the Transformation Agenda therefore is to aggressively pursue a structural transformation of the economy from a mono product to a more inclusive, diversified and industrial economy.
With this background, Cowrie Partners is delighted to present its inaugural Nigeria Finance & Investment Forum which will hold on 18 June 2013 at Transcorp Hilton Abuja. This conference shall be held annually to address topical issues pertaining to the Nigerian Financial Services industry and developments in the Nigerian economy.
The 2013 Conference brings together policymakers, regulators, bankers, their top customers, major international investors and reputable financiers to draw attention to Nigeria’s non-oil investment opportunities and address the issue of how financial institutions can remain a catalyst for the sustainable growth of the economy.
This event will also provide a forum for international and local investors to meet one-on-one with key government officials so that both sides can establish the necessary rapport that leads to the making of beneficial investments.
