OLAYEMI ANYANECHI

Olayemi is the Managing Partner of Sefton Fross Law Firm and is reputed for being one of the leading finance lawyers in Nigeria. In her career she has advised on many complex oil and gas transactions such as the $7.2 billion acquisition of Addax Petroleum Corporation by the Sinopec Group, advising lenders on the $50 Million rig financing for Depthwize, advising a Chinese E & P company on the acquisition of a multinational oil and gas company with subsidiaries and upstream assets held in Nigeria, the proposed acquisition of OMLs 24, 25 and 29 in the ongoing divestment by shell, NAOG and TEPNG Joint Venture, and farm-in to several marginal fields in Nigeria. She also advised FCMB on structuring and documentation of the US $50 Million amortising term loan backed by detachable warrants to the Nigerian Subsidiary of Afren Plc, the first of its kind in the Nigerian financial markets.

She is known for creativity in addressing complex transactional and legal issues and clients are impressed “with the quality of her legal work” and “knowledge of financing transactions” (Chambers and Partners 2009). She has also been described as “one of the very few astute commercial lawyers who [asks] what [is the] economic objective the transaction seeks to accomplish” (IFLR 1000, 2014). Yemi was until February 2013 a Senior Partner and head of the Finance Practice at Templars, a leading Nigerian Law firm.
